THANE: A portion of the terrace gallery of a four-storey residential building collapsed in Maharashtra’s Thane city on Sunday, prompting the evacuation of 80 residents, officials said.
No one was injured in the incident at Sangam Sadan in Kishan Nagar, though debris damaged four two-wheelers parked on the premises.
“The incident was reported around 2.20 pm. A portion of the terrace gallery of the 35-year-old building collapsed, and the remaining portion was in a precarious condition,” said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell.
Officials evacuated all 80 residents and arranged alternative accommodation for them. The building will require structural repairs, Tadvi said.
