Indian Railways has ordered the cancellation of all Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10, citing the possibility of severe traffic congestion around the two stations, according to a Times of India report.
Citing a railway order dated October 9, the report said trains departing from their originating stations after 2 pm on Friday and scheduled to reach either station between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday will be cancelled at source.
The order was issued by the Railway Board’s Coaching Directorate in view of anticipated traffic congestion in the areas surrounding the two stations.
Train Cancellations Amid Delhi Protests
The cancellations come amid protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. However, railway officials have not confirmed whether the decision is connected to the demonstrations.
The order cites the possibility of severe road traffic congestion near New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations as the reason for the cancellations.
