Hyderabad:The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) said it had called tenders to install four-colour dustbin sets at 490 locations across its three zones to promote waste segregation at source in accordance with the solid waste management rules. MMC additional commissioner (sanitation and health) Raghu Prasad told Deccan Chronicle that officials aim to complete the project within a month.
Under the proposed colour-coding system, green bins are for wet biodegradable waste, blue bins for dry recyclable waste, red bins for sanitary waste and black bins for special-care or hazardous waste . Under the plan, five circles in Malkajgiri zone- Keesara, Alwal, Bowenpally, Moulali and Malkajgiri will receive 35 sets each, accounting for 175 sets.
In the Uppal zone, Ghatkesar, Kapra, Nacharam, Uppal and Boduppal circles will receive 35 sets each, totalling another 175 sets. The remaining 140 sets will be installed across the four circles of LB Nagar zone – Nagole, Saroornagar, LB Nagar and Hayathnagar with 35 sets allotted to each circle.
