Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police will focus on the involvement of another army personnel in the case related to theft of weapons and ammunition in an army facility in Bollarum during the 10-day police custody of retired havildar of U Mallesh starting from Tuesday.
In response to a petition filed by the police, a local court here granted 10-day custody of Mallesh. Mallesh (37) hailing from Jangam Reddy Pally at Amrabad in Nagar Kurnool district was arrested on September 11.
The police will recreate the scene to know as how Mallesh managed to get access and steal weapons apart from shifting them to his native place.
Mallesh worked in 20 Bn, Madras Regiment in Bollarum. He joined the Indian Army in 2010 and worked for 16 years and recently retired from service on June 30, 2026. The intention behind the theft preliminarily appears to be disgruntlement out of early retirement from service.
According to his plan, in the intervening night of August 30 and 31, the accused came to 20 Bn, Madras Regiment, Bollarum at about 11 pm, the accused had stolen the arms and ammunition from Kote room and magazine room of 20 Bn, Madras Regiment in Bollarum.
