“Nitin Sundar Jadhav (52), a plumber, used to have frequent arguments with his friend Ashish Indrapal Dingya (40) over minor issues. After one such argument, Jadhav purchased acid from a hardware shop and threw it on Dingya’s face,” Lakshmi Nagar police station senior inspector Yuvraj Nandre said.

When Dingya’s mother, aged 65, tried to intervene, the accused threw acid on her as well, causing injuries to both her hands, he added. “Vishal Shankar Jadhav (32), who was passing by on a two-wheeler with his six-year-old daughter, also sustained acid burns. He suffered injuries to his right arm and right leg, while the girl sustained injuries to her left leg. Dingya suffered injuries to his face, eye and hands,” he said.

Vishal Jadhav is undergoing treatment at Sassoon General Hospital, while the other injured persons were discharged on the same day. A case was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing hurt by use of acid, acting in a way that endangers human life, and other offences.
