Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) jointly organized a surprise checking against drug peddlers on platforms and trains at Charlapally railway station resulting in nabbing a person for transporting dry ganja from Rayagada in Odisha to Secunderabad.
The arrested person has been identified as Antaryani Mahananda (23), a painter and native of Odisha. The police said Mahananda contacted his cousin seeking assistance in finding a job in Hyderabad
His cousin advised him to come to Hyderabad on July 27. He came to know from villagers that selling ganja in Hyderabad would get huge profits. Consequently, he decided to sell ganja alone at higher prices to needy people in Hyderabad.
Accordingly, he went to Rayagada forest area without informing anyone, met an unknown person and purchased approximately six kgs of ganja for Rs.5,000 per kg. He packed the contraband in two packets and kept them in two shoulder bags.
He boarded the general coach of Nagavali express and de-boarded at Charlapally railway station. While he was waiting for his cousin, the police checked his bag and found the contraband, the police said.
