Hyderabad: The police arrested a person posing as an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer and cheating people in Secunderabad and its surroundings.

The incident that came to light in a busy area where the defense department conducts confidential activities has caused a stir. The arrested person has been identified as Nitesh Kumar Paul from Bihar.

He is now working as a delivery agent living in Hyderabad, police sources on Thursday disclosed. The police suspect that Nitesh has cheated IAF aspirants on pretext of providing jobs by reportedly collecting money from them in Hyderabad, and its surroundings.

The police are collecting his previous criminal history in Bihar and probing on his modus operandi. “We are thoroughly questioning the imposter as we suspect that he is not a first time offender and there are similar imposters in his gang who are presently operating in other states also,” an official said.
