A man in England was mauled to death by a tiger on October 10, 2026, after he entered the animal’s enclosure. The individual, who seems to be in his 20s (some reports say he was 22), lost his life at a Yorkshire zoo under tragic circumstances. Footage of him being attacked by the tiger, along with his attempts to save himself, has gone viral online. One zoo visitor, a mom of two, reportedly tried to pull him back to save him, but it proved in vain.
An older woman with two kids tried to pull the man back from jumping into the tiger enclosure but he overpowered her
In a tragic occurrence, a twenty-something man entered the caged area of tigers at England’s Yorkshire Wildlife Park, most likely without permission. On the ill-fated afternoon, moments before jumping into the tigers’ enclosure, he seemed to be ecstatic. A female visitor, who claimed to have been observing the victim 20 minutes before the tragedy, said he was “dancing” on the viewing bridge above the enclosure with his EarPods on and “happily enjoying seeing the tiger.”
When the man finally attempted to jump into the enclosure, many witnesses were concerned about him, and one of them- “an older woman with two children”- tried to pull him back onto the bridge, but she “wasn’t strong enough.” The man, who was determined to commit the bizarre act, reportedly overpowered the mom of two. He “pulled away from her, climbed down, and jumped about 12ft” to reach the tiger zone.

The man reportedly just wanted to play with the tiger and take photos with it. However, after entering the enclosure, the tiger began to circle him. In videos shared on social media, he was seen kneeling in front of the tiger, before it attacked him. “The young man started yelling at the tiger and waving his finger at him, yelling ‘no’, and the tiger grabbed him by the neck. It all happened very fast,” said a witness.
In his final moments, the man repeatedly said “stop” and made hand gestures, hoping the tiger would stop attacking him. But as expected of a wild animal, it followed its instincts, treated him as prey, and killed him.
Zoo authorities shot gas canisters to scare the tiger back into its enclosure
Some onlookers shared that, in an attempt to scare the tiger that took the man’s life, “five shots” of a “gas canister” were fired into the caged area. A witness named Dominic Ford said that an air ambulance, an ambulance, and “a hell of a lot of police came” after being notified of the incident. Following the incident, the zoo authorities stated:
“We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened.”

The gas canisters were reportedly used only to scare the wild animal, and he was uninjured during and after the incident. The wildlife park, where the tragedy took place, has only two Amur tigers- a 17-stone female called Tschuna and a male called Altai- both arrived in March 2025. The male tiger was reported to be the one who mauled the man to death.
The Yorkshire Wildlife Park opened up about the unfortunate incident and told PEOPLE that they were aware that the “distressing footage” of the tiger toying with the human before killing him was widely being circulated on social media, which was immoral.
The zoo authorities, as well as the Yorkshire police, advised people to respect the deceased and not share the footage further. The zoo authorities stated, “We are aware of videos circulating online, and we would encourage people not to share this distressing footage.”
