An unfortunate incident unfolded at a wildlife park, where a man was attacked by a tiger. It is worth mentioning that the man was visiting the park and was dancing and enjoying himself when he reportedly jumped into a tiger enclosure. However, within seconds, the tiger grabbed the man by the neck, and he died at the scene. Some eyewitnesses talked about the reason behind the man jumping into the park.
Man who was killed by tiger at wildlife park wanted to play with the mammal
According to eyewitnesses, the man who was pronounced dead at the scene wanted to just play with the tiger. It was revealed that eyewitnesses observed the victim for 20 minutes before the tragedy. The woman stated that she saw the man on the bridge with his EarPods, dancing and enjoying seeing the tiger. But she wasn’t sure if the man was with a carer or a family member. The eyewitness shared:
“I’m not sure if he was with a carer or family member, but I honestly do think he just wanted to play with the tiger.”

Another visitor claimed that the man appeared to psych himself up before jumping into the tiger enclosure. Distressing videos went viral on the internet, where the tiger was seen grappling with the man while he was shouting repeatedly. Witnesses there also heard people shouting to scare the tiger away.
A midwife, Amy Wright, stated that people who saw the gruesome incident saw the tiger holding the man by his neck, and there was a lot of blood. They also heard two gunshots as they headed to the exit. The South Yorkshire Police pleaded with people not to share footage of the attack online.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park said in a statement that ensuring the safety and wellbeing of its visitors, staff and animals remains its highest priority. They also ensured that the park is now closed. The zoo was opened in 2009 with its Land of Tigers as the main attraction. It is a two-acre reserve and nurtures Amur Tigers, an endangered subspecies. It is believed only 500 remain in the wild.
Police and paramedics quickly rushed to the wildlife park at about 1:35 p.m. after reports surfaced that a man had jumped into a tiger enclosure. Hero zookeepers quickly scared the tiger away from the man by firing several gunshots into the air, causing it to hide. Another witness said:
“It looks as if someone has jumped into the enclosure. There were loads of police and ambulance people and a stretcher in the enclosure as well. It wasn’t nice – there were lots of people who looked really upset. They put up all sorts of black tarpaulin so you couldn’t really see.”

Another witness claimed that the man was soaking up sunshine twenty minutes before his horrific death. The woman said the 22-something man asked a total stranger to take a photo of him with the tiger in the background. The woman said it was probably the last photo on his phone.
Netizens quickly shared their thoughts on Reddit. One user wrote, “Before people jump in with the usual lack of empathy, it appears he had special needs. That is, he didn’t appear to understand whatsoever the danger he was in and was using sign language. The tiger is unharmed, and I would imagine it will remain so.”
Another commented, “A man died. A tiger was being a tiger. We don’t know why the man entered the enclosure, or what was going through his mind. His gestures may have been Makaton signs for “bad” or “naughty”. We can’t know for sure. The man deserves compassion, not ridicule, and the tiger deserves the same respect. Neither deserves to be turned into a spectacle.”
