
Tirupati:A man allegedly killed his wife and mother before dying by suicide along with his two children at Venkatakrishnapalem village in Narayanavanam mandal of Tirupati district on Wednesday.
Police said Mohan, who owned a cement shop in Narayanavanam, was living with his wife Haritha, 33, mother Chandrakala, 65, and two children aged 14 and 12.
The incident came to light when Haritha’s brother, Bala Krishna, who had been assisting Mohan at the shop, went to the house in the afternoon after Mohan didn’t return to the shop and his phone was switched off. He found Haritha and Chandrakala lying dead under suspicious circumstances and alerted the police.
Police suspect that Mohan killed his wife and mother before fleeing with his children. A search operation was launched using technical inputs in areas including Puttur, Karvetinagaram and Nagari. At around 7.30 pm, police received information that Mohan, along with his two children, were found dead near a railway track near Puttur.
Puttur DSP Ravi Kumar said Mohan was suspected to have been suffering from psychological issues, though the exact motive is yet to be established. He added that there were no apparent financial problems and no known disputes between the couple. The bodies were shifted to the government hospital in Puttur for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.
