
Hyderabad:Suspecting his wife’s extramarital affairs, a truck driver murdered her at the Kodad bus stand’s in Suryapet district.
Police said Paili Manideep, 26, stabbed his wife to death on Wednesday night while over 40 passengers witnessed the murder.
“He was allegedly upset over his wife Paili Sirisha’s extramarital affairs. She used to take her paramours to his house. She had multiple friends on her Insta,” police investigating the case said.
Police learn that Manideep had tried to change her ways, but Sirisha alleged continued with the affairs. “Some days ago, Manideep enraged over her affairs tried to end his life by suicide,” Shiva Shankar, SHO at Kodad station, said.
Manideep had developed a grudge after his wife lodged a harassment case against him with the Kodad police station in Suryapet district.
The couple got married in 2020 and has a five-year-old child.
Man found dead in suspicious circumstances
Hyderabad:A 23-year-private sector employee was found dead in suspicious circumstances on the second floor of his rented apartment in Laxmiguda in the early hours of Thursday.
The locals at 5.45 am noticed thick smoke from the victim Vikas Kumar Singh’s house and informed the Milardevpally police and the fire department.
A local resident said, “I along with other residents rushed to the portion of the house where the door was open. We extinguished the fire by pouring several buckets of water. The hall was completely burnt. The entire false ceiling of the roof fell on Vikas, and he was dead.”
The victim Vikas Singh had consumed liquor with uncle Hareender Singh’s son Manish Singh. The police found empty liquor bottles at the fire scene.
According to the police, Manish Singh, at 5am, left Vikas alone, informing him that he was going to learn riding a bike. His father Hareender Singh had gone to his native place in Bihar.
A case of suspicious death has been registered.
Bribe: Forest dept FDO, DRO arrested by ACB
Hyderabad:The Anti Corruption Bureau caught the forest divisional officer and deputy range officer of Charla forest range Bhadradri Kothagudem district after they demanded `10 lakh as bribe and accepted `3.50 lakh from an accused in a forest tree felling case.
The officers, Santhapuri Sujatha, FDO, Bhadrachalam, and Bhukya Krishna, (DRO) of Tegada and I/C forest range officer of Charla, of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, were caught redhanded by the ACB, Khammam Range, at the forest divisional office on Thursday.
The accused officers demanded the bribe amount from the person for “not registering cases against the complainant for allegedly causing damage to forest trees, while laying a 2km-long BT road from Pusuguppa village, charla mandal, to the Chhattisgarh border in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The road was completed in 2025.
The marked currency was recovered from Bhukya Krishna’s instance. Initially, Sujata demanded `10,00,000; subsequently, on a request from the complainant, the two reduced the bribe amount to `3,50,000.
The two have been produced before the special judge for ACB cases at Warangal.
“The case is under investigation. The details of the complainant are withheld for security reasons,” a press release issued by ACB stated.
BJP condemns remarks against Bandi, vows firm response
Hyderabad:BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao on Thursday condemned the alleged remarks by BRS MLA Padi Koushik Reddy against Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, stating that the party would oppose personal allegations against its leaders.
Speaking at a programme organised by the BJP Army Cell to mark the anniversary of Operation Sindhoor, he said criticism was part of politics but public representatives should exercise restraint. He said the party did not encourage violence, but warned that workers would respond to attacks on leaders’ personal reputation.
Armoor MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy defended party workers over the incident in Karimnagar, alleging that the BRS MLA had made earlier remarks against constitutional authorities and officials. He also challenged BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao to substantiate allegations against Sanjay Kumar regarding evacuee land.
BJP spokesperson N.V. Subhash criticised the BRS leader and alleged that BRS and Congress were trying to divert attention from an upcoming public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Telangana.
BJP deputy floor leader Payal Shankar attributed the clash to the BRS MLA’s remarks and reiterated the challenge to prove allegations against Sanjay Kumar. The statements follow recent political tensions between the two parties in Karimnagar.
Model schools’ merit list published
Hyderabad:The merit list for Classes 6 to 10 in the Telangana State Model Schools Admission Test 2026 has been uploaded on the official website. A total of 37,216 students applied for the entrance test conducted on April 19, while 30,545 attended and 6,671 remained absent.
Class 6 recorded the highest attendance with 19,563 students appearing for the test. Another 4,282 students appeared for class 7, 3,908 for class 8; 2,313 for class 9, and 479 for class 10. According to the officials, admissions will take place at the respective schools as per reservation rules and the selection schedule issued by the department.
Police constable, wife accused of murdering businessman to clear betting debts
Hyderabad:A senior police constable along with his wife, addicted to online betting, are accused of murdering a businessman in Chinnakodur village of Siddipet district to clear online betting debts.
The accused Gauti Praveen posted at the Central Crime Station in Siddipet district headquarters and his wife Gauti Rajitha murdered Balde Vishwanadham, 57, after the businessman demanded that they return the `12 lakh they took from him.
“He threatened the couple that, or else, he would sell the land they had mortgaged with him,” the Siddipet police said.
Going through the CCTV visuals, police found Praveen and Rajitha taking Viswanadham in their car to a deserted area on the outskirts of the Mettubaandala village on May 3.
“They told him that they have another land in the same village, and that they would get this registered in his name, and give back his `12 lakh,” ACP Ravinder Reddy, investigating the case, told Deccan Chronicle on Thursday.
He said, “After Viswandaham sat on the rear seat, Praveen tied his hands and feet inside the car, fatally strangled him with a wire and snatched the 10 tolas gold chain on his neck. They abandoned the victim’s body in a canal at Imambad village and came to Hyderabad in the same car and sold the gold.”
The police formed special teams after Vshwandham’s family lodged a missing complaint with the Chinnakodur police station on May 4. “On inspecting the CCTV, we found the victim boarding the couple’s car. We took both into custody and they confessed to the murder and loot,” the police official said.
During interrogation, accused Praveen and Rajitha revealed that they forcibly removed a gold nose ring on April 25 from an elderly woman while taking her to a hospital in their car, police said.
Police said, “Praveen is a senior constable with 19 years of service. His wife Rajitha is a housewife. They had to pay off debts incurred from online betting in which they lost over `1 crore.”
The two have been sent to judicial remand. “We will file a seven day police custody request petition at the Siddipet court for further investigation,” a police officer said.
SCR regularises Secunderabad–Anakapalle weekly express
Hyderabad:The ministry of railways has approved the introduction of Train No. 17043/17044 Secunderabad–Anakapalle–Secunderabad Weekly Express by regularising the existing special service, Train No. 07041/07042.
Train No. 17043 Secunderabad–Anakapalle Express will run on Sundays with effect from May 24, while Train No. 17044 Anakapalle–Secunderabad Express will run on Mondays with effect from May 18.
Meanwhile, to clear extra passenger rush during the summer season, South Central Railway (SCR) has extended special train services between Hyderabad and Gorakhpur.
Train No. 07075 Hyderabad–Gorakhpur will run on four Fridays this month — May 8, 15, 22 and 29. Similarly, Train No. 07076 Gorakhpur–Hyderabad will run on four Sundays — May 10, 17, 24 and 31.
