Mangaluru: A 67-year-old driver of a goods rickshaw was killed and two others, including a First Additional District and Sessions Judge, were injured in a three-vehicle accident near the district court in Mangaluru.
The accident occurred around 10 am when the autorickshaw collided with the car of First Additional District and Sessions Judge D Vinay and then hit a two-wheeler, police said.
According to the complaint filed by Vinay at the Mangaluru East Traffic Police Station, he was on his way from his residence towards the court in the morning. While he was approaching the road leading to the court building from near Radha Medicals, the speeding auto rickshaw, travelling downhill on the court road, reportedly veered to the right and hit his car.
The autorickshaw overturned before hitting a scooter.
The autorickshaw driver Chandru, the scooter rider, and Vinay were injured in the accident. Police said that Chandru succumbed to his injuries.
The Judge sustained minor injuries, and the scooter rider was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
