Manoj Bajpayee is gearing up for his next crime thriller, Gajab Raat, with the makers unveiling its trailer. Previously titled Ghooskhor Pandat, the film has been renamed following the controversy surrounding its original title earlier this year.
The 2-minute-and-20-second trailer, released on Thursday, introduces Bajpayee as Nirvit, a corrupt police officer who finds himself caught in an increasingly complicated situation. What initially appears to be an opportunity to make some quick money soon spirals into a dangerous night involving unexpected twists, a murder investigation and a larger conspiracy.
The trailer opens with Nirvit receiving a mysterious phone call instructing him to reach a place called Plaza. When he arrives, he discovers that an injured young woman has been thrown out of a moving vehicle. The incident sets off a chain of events as questions emerge about the woman’s identity and her possible connection to a murder.
As Nirvit investigates, he becomes increasingly entangled in a web of secrets and conflicting interests. With the case taking unexpected turns, the officer must decide whether to protect his own interests or do what is right. Unfolding over a single night, the story places him in situations where every decision could have serious consequences.
Apart from Manoj Bajpayee, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Saqib Saleem, Akshay Oberoi, Divya Dutta, Kiku Sharda and Nushrratt Bharuccha.
Directed by Ritesh Shah, Gajab Raat has been co-written by Shah and filmmaker Neeraj Pandey. The crime thriller is backed by Pandey’s production banner, Friday Filmworks.
The film is set to premiere on Netflix on October 23, bringing Manoj Bajpayee and Neeraj Pandey together again after their previous collaborations on Special 26 (2013) and Aiyaary (2018).
