Kakinada: With civic and local body elections approaching, the Jana Sena and Telugu Desam are seeing a line-up of YSRC leaders, activists and others coming to join the ruling side in Kakinada district.
The relatively weak Jana Sena is keeping its doors open to one and all. In Rajanagaram constituency, several YSRC activists joined the Jana Sena in the presence of Rajanagaram MLA Bathula Bala Ramakrishna.
The MLA justified his sudden change of colour by saying that the YSRC had lost its support in the constituency as people were getting attracted to the alliance government’s welfare schemes and activities.
In Tuni constituency, nearly 3,000 people, including YSRC activists, joined the Jana Sena under the leadership of senior politician Yanamala Krishnudu, who recently switched sides from the YSRC to the Jana Sena. Krishnudu was earlier associated with the TD but joined the YSRC before the 2024 elections.
DCCB chairman and Jana Sena Kakinada district president Thummala Ramaswamy and Kakinada MP T Uday Srinivas were present.
Ramaswamy said deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan was keen on developing the Pithapuram and Kakinada Lok Sabha constituencies as well as the State. He said the Jana Sena had recorded a 100 per cent strike rate in the 2024 elections and called upon people to hoist Jana Sena flags in every household in the district ahead of the civic and local body elections.
Uday Srinivas said the party would contest the panchayat, Zilla Parishad and municipal elections.
Yanamala Krishnudu said he was a disciplined political activist and had earlier been with the Telugu Desam. He claimed he joined the YSRC after the TD high command did not allot him an assembly ticket and that he now wanted to be with the Jana Sena.
