Enzo Maresca says he has complete trust in Manchester City as the club continue to fight the guilty verdict against them for serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.
City were found guilty of the charges by an independent commission but have continued to deny any wrongdoing and have lodged an appeal.

The City boss insisted the ongoing process has not affected his belief in the club or the people running it, and said there is nowhere else he would rather be.
“All I can say is that there is a process ongoing, and I completely trust the club,” Maresca said.
“I trust the club because I trust the people, which is also the reason why I joined the club.
“There is not another club in the world where I would like to be, so I’m very happy to be here, very proud.”
Maresca also dismissed any suggestion that the verdict has changed the way he views City’s previous achievements, including the treble-winning season under Pep Guardiola.

“Absolutely not,” he said.
“The last time I was here was the treble season. I know the effort from the players, from the club, from the manager at that time, Pep.
“I know exactly the effort of the club to achieve that target, so I don’t have any doubt about that.”

The City boss made clear he expects the club to be successful in its appeal and suggested that would be the right time to discuss the case in greater detail.
“Probably the right moment to speak about it is when we’re going to win this appeal,” he said.

Maresca did, however, acknowledge the seriousness of the situation and stressed that both staff and players are aware of its significance.
“We completely understand the seriousness of the situation,” he added.
“I’m not saying we don’t understand that. We understand, the players understand.
“But it’s our duty, our job, to control the noise. The manager and the players are focused on winning games.”
Maresca also reiterated his confidence in the club’s hierarchy and their handling of the process.
“I know the organisation from years ago,” he said.
“I know they do the right things, so again, I would like to speak about this when we’re going to win the appeal.

“I think they are convinced that at the end, we’re going to win the appeal.”
