A spokesperson for Margaret Qualley has shared her statement on rumours of cheating after she and Jack Antonoff, her husband of three years, were reported to have split
Margaret Qualley’s representatives have slammed speculation that cheating caused her reported split from Jack Antonoff. The actress, 31, has been married to Taylor Swift collaborator Antonoff, 42, since 2023, but the two are thought to have split earlier this week.
Reports of their break up came as Antonoff took his sister to Swift’s wedding, rather than his wife and Qualley quietly deleted images of their wedding from her Instagram page. Some also pointed out that Qualley, who is the daughter of Andie MacDowell, had changed her Instagram handle to @sarahmargaretqulley23. It was previously @ismostar, a reference to ‘Isimo’, a song by Antonoff’s band Bleachers.
Following reports of the split, some started to speculate that one of the pair had cheated. But Qualley’s reps have said that these rumours are “categorically untrue” and insisted there are “only two people in this marriage”.
They told NBC News: “The narratives running in the press about Margaret and Jack are categorically untrue. There are no trust issues. There was no infidelity or anything outside of respect and partnership in this relationship.
“They have deep love and care for one another. There are only two people in this marriage, and the sources who are talking to the press and commenting on their relationship are not people who know them. Please respect their privacy.”
A source previously told People that two had separated following a “rocky” relationship but that they were “figuring things out”, despite reportedly no longer living together.
Neither Qualley nor Antonoff have confirmed that they have split, and her representatives stopped short of confirming or denying the news.
Qualley and Antonoff were first romantically linked in August 2021 and made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Critics’ Choice Awards in early 2022. They got engaged later that year and married on Long Beach in August 2023.
After they were married, Antonoff told Howard Stern that he knew he would marry Qualley from the day they met. He said: “I saw her and it was like a f***ing Hallmark movie that doesn’t seem believable. When I met her, I started imagining things that I’d never even imagined, like marriage.”
Their relationship has inspired many love songs, including a Lana Del Rey track called ‘Margaret’. The song, which features Bleachers, includes the lyrics: “He met Margaret on a rooftop, she was wearing white / And he was like, ‘I might be in trouble’ / He had flashes of the good life.”
Del Rey explained at an awards show in 2024 that she was “grateful” to Antonoff for the “example that he gave me in his marriage to Margaret”.
She added: “I saw the way he looked at her when he met her and he’s a big reason why I waited so long to get married and why I met my amazing husband.”
