A 34-year-old married woman S. Arundhati of P.M. Lanka village has died by suicide in a bathroom of Narsapuram Government Hospital in West Godavari district.
According to Narsapuram circle inspector Yadagiri, Arundhati and her tenants had quarrelled and beat each other. As a result, they had been admitted to hospital. On Tuesday, Arundathi took the extreme step. The inspector said they are investigating why Arundathi ended her life.
However, Arundhathi’s husband Rambabu said his wife killed herself as she had been unable to bear the harassment of police. He said that a woman, Tirumani Mavullu, is residing in his house on rent. But she did not pay the rent. When Arundhati asked her for rent on April 16, Mavullu and her sister assaulted Arundhati because of which she had to be admitted to the Government Hospital at Narsapuram.
Rambabu alleged that though he had tried to lodge a complaint with Narsapuram Rural police, they did not register the complaint. In addition, police threatened his wife to book a theft case against her. Unable to bear the harassment by police, Arundhati has died by suicide, her husband alleged.
Police surround MLC Anantha Babu’s house
Kakinada’s Special Investigation Team police have surrounded YSRC MLC Anantha Udaya Bhaskar’s house on Tuesday night in an attempt to arrest him.
Anantha Babu is the main accused in allegedly killing his ex-driver Veedhi Subrahmanyam, a Dalit youth, and delivering his dead body to his parents in 2022.
A complaint has been lodged against Anantha Babu, alleging that he is trying to intimidate witnesses and trying to bribe them with money.
Following this, Kakinada police have registered another case of intimidation against him.
Sources said Anantha Babu is not available at his house and is absconding.
