Timothy Weah is expected to start and to captain Olympique de Marseille as they look to get their first points on the board in the UEFA Europa League when they visit Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night.

It is expected that Weah will start in a more advanced position on the right wing. So far this season, he has played at right-back. It is a move that allows for Amine Harit, out of the matchday squad, to be rested for Sunday’s game against RC Lens. Covering Weah at right-back will be Kelyann Bezahaf, L’Équipe understands.

Derek Cornelius and Emerson are the only injury-related absences for Marseille. There is also a return for Keyliane Abdallah, relegated to the reserves for his substitute appearance against Le Havre AC. He is back training with the first team and back in the matchday squad, although he may not start this evening.

Marseille likely line-up v Bayer Leverkusen

Jeffrey De Lange; Ulisses Garcia, Nayef Aguerd, Bamo Meité, Kelyann Bezahaf; Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Geoffrey Kondogbia; Igor Paixao, Himad Abdelli, Timothy Weah; Amine Gouiri. (L’Éq)
