Matt’s status as a former member of Busted and Emma’s track record as a TV presenter have made them household names – and it seems Radio X host Chris Moyles is a fan

Matt and Emma Willis have become something of a celebrity power couple in recent years. Matt’s status as a former member of Busted and Emma’s track record as a TV presenter have made them household names. Most recently, Emma has landed a role on the BBC’s flagship dance show, Strictly Come Dancing, alongside Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe.

Before that, Matt and Emma — who tied the knot in 2008 — were known for speaking candidly about the highs and lows of their relationship, including Matt’s struggles with drugs and alcohol.

Now sober, Matt has channelled his recovery journey into the On the Mend podcast, where he explores topics including mental health, addiction and sobriety. And it seems his revitalised image has left a real impression on Radio X host Chris Moyles.

Chris remarked that Matt was “never an ugly man”, but he was now positively “smouldering”. Matt humbly responded that “not taking drugs and drinking” every day certainly helps.

Chris quipped: “Is that what that does? Look what, Look at… Emma Willis is lucky, isn’t she?” Matt playfully asked him to say that again, as it was the “first time” he’d ever heard it being said. Chris continued: “Let’s be honest now, your wife – if I can say – very handsome woman.”

He went on: “Very likeable, very talented, lovely, beautiful. She’s punching now with this, though, isn’t she? She’s got to up her game.”

Matt doubted she’d “agree”. He responded: “Not if social media comments can be taken in. I don’t think she’d agree with that, but yeah. Yeah, man, you know, I mean, like I said, you know, not drinking and taking drugs every day does tend to have that effect on you.”

Meanwhile, Matt has recently opened up about how his wife is settling into her fresh presenting gig on Strictly Come Dancing. Emma, Josh and Johannes have stepped into the shoes of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who departed the BBC programme following the 2025 series.

While promoting his book on This Morning on Thursday (October 8), host Tess enquired of Matt: “She’s doing the most amazing job on Strictly. Is she enjoying it? Are you watching it? Do you love it?”

Matt responded: “I have never watched so much Strictly in my life! I’m so in. I’ve been to a live show, I’m watching every episode… She’s smashing it. She’s so happy. She loves it!”

Co-host Ben Shepherd asked: “Emma has experience of doing these big shows, Josh and JoJo don’t necessarily have that experience doing those huge shows. How is she coping with that part of it?”

Matt answered: “I don’t think she pays attention to anything. She’s very good at just doing her job, and she puts her head down and does the best she can.

“She loves working with Josh and JoJo, and they’re great, and they’re brilliant, and they’re lovely people. They’re all in this thing together. It’s a new job, it’s exciting, and she’s loving it!”
