Matt Willis has spoken to Celebrity Traitors star Joe Marler about one improvement he’s made in his 18-year marriage to Strictly Come Dancing host Emma Willis
Singer and podcaster Matt Willis has made a small admission about his marriage to Strictly Come Dancing presenter Emma Willis as she continues to make her debut presenting the legendary BBC show.
Emma, 50, and Matt, 43, have been married since 2008, during which time the pair have had three children, Isabelle, Ace, and Trixie, together as well as continuing to build their own careers.
Over the course of their near 20-years of marriage the pair have been frank about the ups and downs they have experienced, but also the progress they’ve made. In recent years, they have both been open about their union, with both regularly sharing personal insights into their relationship.
During one particular chat with former rugby star Joe Marler on the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast, Matt was quizzed by the former Celebrity Traitors contestant about how Emma would sum him up in a single sentence.
Matt replied: “Well she used to call me 50 percent Willis which is, because I’d always do 50 percent of a job. Like, she’d say, ‘You have the best intentions but you can’t ever follow through’.”
However, Matt was quick to reassure Joe that he had turned over a new leaf and was now far more committed to following things through. He clarified: “I’m a bit better, I’d say 75. I’m 75 percent Willis.”
This isn’t the first time Matt has addressed or talked about his marriage to Emma. Earlier this year on his On The Mend podcast, he told listeners he had asked Emma about the same matter he had highlighted to Joe Marler, and whether it could be anything to do with ADHD.
He said: “I asked Emma about it, and she thought about it for quite a while, and then she basically gave me the same one which I’ve said before, which is I don’t follow through with things. It was worded slightly different, but that was the message.
“She basically said, ‘You have so many ideas, which is hard to keep up with at times, and I don’t want to disregard your passion and ideas for stuff, but there’s so many, and so few of them are going to take flight’.
“And she was like, ‘I don’t want to stop you from being this creative thing that comes up with all this stuff, but you don’t follow through on most of them, and some of them which you come to that are important, you don’t follow through with.'”
