Maura Higgins has made a bombshell claim about her ex-boyfriends. The Traitors star, 35, who shot to fame on Love Island has dated a whole host of famous faces, but reckons some of them had ‘huge egos’.
The reality star, who has now bagged a plum gig on Dancing With the Stars in the US, was most recently linked to TOWIE’s Pete Wicks.
She has also dated dated Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice, Hollywood stuntman Bobby Holland Hanton and fellow Love Island alum, Curtis Pritchard. However, opening up about her love life, Maura claimed some of her exes weren’t always supportive.
She told The Sun: “Some of my ex-partners didn’t like me overshadowing them, it was probably an ego thing. My friends keep saying that my next partner needs to let me shine and be who I am.”
Maura has previously admitted to “serious trust issues” as she revealed she would go through her boyfriend’s phone only a week after dating.
In an interview with Glamour Magazine, she listed all her “flags” – from red to beige, admitting: “I’d say my biggest red flag in a relationship is I’ve got serious trust issues.
“If I’m dating you and it’s only a week in, I’ve already gone through your phone. I’ve turned into a bit of an investigator because men have done me dirty. So like, I mean, I’d probably say it’s a beige flag, but we call it red.
“We call it red because it’s not okay to go through someone’s phone, but I’m going to do it again.”
The Traitors US star confessed she’s become something of an “investigator” when it comes to romance, following years of “men doing her dirty”. Last year, Maura publicly hit out at ex-boyfriend Pete, hinting he’d been unfaithful after she stumbled upon messages to other women on his mobile.
However, a source close to the TOWIE star denied the allegations and said he was hurt by Maura’s claims.
The former ring girl from Ireland, has had her fair share of high-profile romances. She initially fell for Curtis during her stint on Love Island, before moving on to Chris Taylor, whom she also met on the dating show.
Following the end of that relationship, Maura dated axed Strictly professional Giovanni, though they called it quits after just four months together.
After that, despite being caught sharing a smooch at the National TV Awards in 2022, both Maura and TOWIE’s Joey Essex insisted they weren’t an item.
In March 2024, Maura split from stuntman Bobby Holland Hanton after ten months together. She was then spotted sharing a ‘drunken kiss’ with McFly’s Danny Jones – who has been married to his wife Georgia for over a decade – while they were at Universal Music’s BRIT Awards afterparty.
More recently, Maura got tongues wagging with romance speculation involving her Traitors US co-star Rob Rausch, 27. Viewers noticed what appeared to be chemistry brewing between the reality star and her fellow contestant, with many rooting for them to become an item. Addressing the speculation, they both confirmed that they are just mates.
