The images are in on Max Fried’s elbow, and the left-hander will be out at least a month.

Two days after leaving his start early with left elbow posterior soreness, Fried underwent testing Thursday that revealed a left elbow bone bruise that’ll force him to land on the 15-day injured list, the Yankees announced Friday before facing the Mets in the Subway Series.

Imaging will be taken again “in a few weeks,” the team also revealed.

Fried had been central to the Yankees’ strong start to the season, posting a 3.21 ERA through 10 starts for a rotation that entered Thursday with the highest fWAR (5.7) in the majors.

They are expected to get Gerrit Cole back from Tommy John surgery possibly by the end of the month, but their goal all along was to pair the two aces at the top of the rotation (along with an emerging one in Cam Schlittler) instead of just trading places.

After Fried was removed from Wednesday’s start following three innings and 61 pitches, he said he was “planning on this thing being a sooner rather than later [situation],” and that he was “not too worried about a super long-term thing.”

He had experienced the same issue in other starts this season, but it usually went away quickly, only to linger Wednesday and make it difficult for Fried to get loose.

The veteran described the feeling like he had hyper-extended or banged the back of his elbow/tricep area.

“This one, it was probably just one too many times and just a little irritated and a little pissed off,” Fried said.

Fried’s next turn in the rotation was scheduled to be Tuesday against the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium.
