Later, the legacy of his party was passed on to her brother, M. K. Alagiri. It is worth noting that Durga has been an active part of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam since childhood. Over the years, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin has often spoken about his wife, Durga. A few months ago, at the inauguration of the Anna Marriage Hall in Kolathur, M.K. Stalin spoke about his wife and credited her for supporting him during some of his toughest challenges. He mentioned that Durga’s love and support shaped his journey. Later, during another interaction, he had appreciated his wife, Durga’s patience, understanding and emotional strength. During the same conversation, he also added that the spouses of the politician often go unnoticed.

M.K. Stalin resigns as Vijay Thalapathy wins Tamil Nadu election

For those who do not know, after the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, M.K. Stalin stepped down from his position after Vijay Thalapathy‘s party, TVK won with a good margin. After losing, M.K. Stalin took to his X handle to share a long note. In the same, he expressed gratitude to all the people who voted for his party. A part of his note can be read as:

“I express my heartfelt and sincere gratitude to all the people of Tamil Nadu who voted for the candidates of the secular progressive alliance led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly general elections. I consider each and every one of your votes as an invaluable token of trust. According to the vote counts received so far, the DMK alliance has secured 1 crore 54 lakh 82 thousand 782 votes. I convey my heartfelt gratitude to all these people.”

Later, actor-turned-politician, Vijay Thalapathy also took to his X handle to share his first statement after winning the elections. In the same, he replied to Narendra Modi’s tweet, in which the Prime Minister had congratulated the actor on his win. In response, Vijay assured netizens that their well-being is his priority. His X post said:

“Thank you, Hon’ble @PMOIndia, for your greetings. The well-being of our people remains our only goal. Transcending politics, we shall focus on the State’s progress and the welfare of people of Tamil Nadu. We look forward to the Union Government’s support in this endeavor.”
