If you haven’t heard, big changes are coming to the PGA Tour in 2028. With the Tour’s two-track system debuting in a little over a year, that means next season, 2027, will be critical for players trying to play their way onto the top tier, the Championship Series.
And you know what’s really going to help accomplish that? By already owning a PGA Tour card in 2027. Twenty players just did that — including a 19-year-old pro — as they earned a promotion via the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship Sunday. Now those guys have a head start in getting on the top track come 2028.

No. 1 Ross Steelman
He’s gotten better at every stage and the former PGA Tour University graduate won the season-long points race. He won twice in 2026 and had six top-five finishes.
No. 2 Sandy Scott
Scott, who grew up in Scotland, ended the season on a tear with four straight top-five finishes, including back-to-back wins.
No. 3 Ian Holt
Won the second and third events of the season to maintain his place in the top 20.
No. 4 Alistair Docherty
Docherty, 32, finally advanced to the top tour after four years on the Korn Ferry. (He was also the guest on GOLF’s latest Subpar podcast.)
No. 5 Alvaro Ortiz
Ortiz won twice to earn his card after playing four full seasons on the Korn Ferry Tour.
No. 6 Austin Hitt
Won the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship on Sunday to help punch his ticket. This was Hitt’s third consecutive season on the Korn Ferry Tour.
No. 7 Cole Sherwood
Sherwood earned his card in his second full season. Won the Colonial Life Charity Classic to vault up the points list.

The 2017 U.S. Amateur champion is back on the PGA Tour after a brief stint on the Korn Ferry.

No. 12 Hunter Eichhorn

Won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2024 to earn a PGA Tour promotion but fell back down in 2025. He won the season-opening Bahamas Golf Classic and is now back on the PGA Tour once again.

Gilligan had nine top-10 finishes in 24 starts to earn his card in just his first season on the Korn Ferry Tour.
