Meg Mathews has revealed she is in hospital to undergo a colonoscopy after two polyps were discovered, but she stressed that the discovery does not mean they’re cancerous

Meg Mathews has been admitted to the hospital after discovering two polyps. The businesswoman and activist took to social media to give fans an update on her condition as she awaited a colonoscopy at The Royal Cornwall Hospital, while saying she wasn’t going to stress over whether they could be cancerous.
The 60-year-old told fans that she was seen by medical staff at 8am, and during the procedure, she was sedated and later used gas and air. During the colonoscopy, it was discovered that Meg had two small polyps.
According to the NHS, polyps are small growths, often found on the large intestine (colon) or rectum. They’re common and often not serious, but can occasionally lead to bowel cancer.
Speaking to her camera, Meg said: “I look exhausted. Sort of like sticky mouth, you know, when you get dry eyes. Feel like I’ve been had a night out when I have basically started the first drink at 6:00p.m. then I took the other one at like 4:30. Still on the toilet at 6:30. Sorry to be so graphic.”
Before undergoing a colonoscopy, patients must drink sachets of laxatives in order to completely empty their bowels. In the days leading up to a colonoscopy, people must also adjust their diets to include plain foods such as chicken, white rice, clear soup, pasta, or bread.
Sharing an update after the procedure, Meg went on to say: “All over. Um, I’m in, and I’m out. I’m just waiting for my lift home. I had sedation, and I had gas and air. They removed two tiny polyps.
“They’re sending off to the pathologists. I should get the results in two to three weeks.” She went on to add: “Then we’ll just know. But, like, no cancer scare or anything like that. I just looked on ChatGPT, talked, and read all about it.
“I don’t think there’s anything to be worried about. I think a load of people get polyps. They were really tiny. Um, so, we’ll just wait and see what the results are. But all good. Thank you, Royal Cornwall Hospital.”
Meg was flooded with support, with her fellow Primrose Hill Set pal Davinia Taylor writing: “Love you,” alongside a red heart emoji. Sadie Frost penned: “Glad yr ok,” alongside a smiling emoji.
Responding to one concerned fan, Meg confirmed that while suffering from gastroenteritis, doctors performed a “full MOT” on Meg to assess her physical health.
Meg was catapulted to global fame after dating Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher, before the pair tied the knot in 1997, while in Las Vegas. He previously said that their hit single Wonderwall, was originally about Meg, but when they split in 2001, he retracted this admission.
Speaking about the breakdown of their marriage, Meg told the Irish Mirror in 2020: “I came through the marriage. Everything was public. At the end of the day, I did not have the cog or the PR world that that person [Noel] had.
“I was just the ex-wife. I had nobody. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t have a press agent, wasn’t famous, I just had a daughter. I used to get terrible PTSD. In 1997 I was the third most written about woman. It was Lady Diana, The Spice Girls and me.”
Nowadays, Meg and Noel seem to have patched things up. During the mammoth Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour last year, Meg was often spotted in the crowd and documented her time on the road with her social media followers.
