Melanie C has shared a sneak peek at her emotional wedding speech with a video from behind-the-scenes. The Spice Girls star, 52, tied the knot with model Chris Dingwall in a ceremony that all took place over the weekend in Cumbria.
The Mirror exclusively revealed that the secret ceremony was set to take place, and her bandmates Emma Bunton, Mel B and Geri Horner, were all there to celebrate the special day.
Now, Vogue has shared a video on Instagram which revealed the Adidas satin robe and sliders that Melanie, who became known as Sporty Spice during her days as part of best-selling girl group in history, which came complete with the date stitched onto them.
The outlet captioned the post: “Melanie didn’t grow up fantasising about her wedding day. Then, along came Chris Dingwall. ‘I’ve had this awakening in my 50s – I’m very comfortable in my skin,’ she says…
“When her now husband proposed, [she said] “I knew immediately it was the right thing to do. When you’re my age you’re like… I actually want to experience all the things.” In the video, Melanie can be seen sitting in a makeup chair and fans were also given a glimpse of her wedding speech as she held facing her new husband with microphone in hand and reading from a small piece of paper.
At one point in the video, Melanie could be seen hugging her bandmates, with the exception of Victoria Beckham, who was not present for the occasion. Instead of attending the wedding, Posh was at the World Cup in the United States with her husband David.
However, the singer-turned-fashion mogul did designed Mel’s dress as a gift, and her name was seen emblazoned across a hanger in the short social media clip.
Victoria wasn’t the only Spice Girl to step up as Mel B also had something special for her friend and her heartfelt words left some at the venue fighting back the tears before the evening entertainment got underway, going on until the early hours of the morning.
After stunning ceremony, Mel B took the mic and a source said: “Mel and Chris’ wedding was perfect, they couldn’t be happier. They chose a classy, laid-back ceremony before a reception with their closest friends and family.
“Mel B gave a speech which got a lot of laughs, as well as some tears — it was really beautiful. Geri was there but there was no awkwardness between her and Mel B,” the insider told The Sun. “It was a day for celebrating Mel and Chris’s love for each other and that was all anyone wanted to do.”
Sporty met the model and producer on celebrity dating app Raya back in 2023. She told British Vogue the spark was “immediate,” and that the wedding was “low-key, relaxed, romantic and chic.” She added: “I’m so excited for the world to know he’s my husband.”
And Mel said of her wedding dress: “Victoria wanted to make it much more personal to me. I’m not really a girly girl andVictoria’s clothes are really feminine in a way that feels comfortable and very me.”
