After months of preparations, the biggest fashion night, the Met Gala, is finally here. Each year, the fashion event, which is also the biggest fundraiser of all time, is held on the first Monday of May, and this year, too, it was no exception.

On May 4, 2026, the Met Gala 2026 was held, and celebrities from all around the world stepped up the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year, the theme of the fashion event was ‘Costume Art’ and the dress code was ‘Fashion is Art’. And Hollywood celebrities left no stone unturned to plan and execute their looks for the night that not only align with the theme but also exude elegance. Met Gala 2026: Lauren Sánchez Bezos’ Madame X-inspired look with 100-carat diamonds

American journalist and businessman, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, joined the Met Gala 2026 and walked the red carpet in a classy midnight blue-toned outfit from Schiaparelli. The gown had a deep-V neckline and jewel straps, with a body-hugging silhouette. Lauren Sánchez Bezos is also a co-chair of the Met Gala 2026 along with her husband, Jeff Bezos. There have been times when both Lauren and Jeff attended the Met Gala, but they didn’t walk the red carpet together. Speaking of this year, Jeff Bezos skipped the event.

Coming back to Lauren’s look, she opted for this classy Schiaparelli gown, which is now believed to be a subtle answer to the criticism she has been getting for co-chairing the Met Gala. The dress she wore was inspired by the 1884 painting Madame X. For the unversed, it was in 1884, when John Singer Sargent, an American artist, made this portrait of the American socialite Virginie Amélie Avegno Gautreau. In the OG artwork, the straps were seen slipping off her shoulder, and back then, this was seen as vulgar, which caused a stir.

The backlash was so much that Sargent had to re-paint the straps. So, by choosing this gown, Lauren actually hit back at her critics, who often mocked her for her fashion choices. With her gown, Lauren put on a diamond show. She opted for 100-carat diamonds from Lorraine Schwartz, including pear-shaped earrings and a huge marquise-shaped Golconda engagement ring, which is said to be of 35-carats.

Gigi Hadid’s naked dress was built on her body two days ago

Gigi Hadid grabbed the attention with her look at the Met Gala 2026. This year marks Gigi’s 11th Met Gala appearance, and to keep her look aligned with the dress code, ‘Fashion Is Art’, she chose a perfect piece from Miu Miu. The gorgeousness opted for a black see-through dress which was designed with hotfix crystals, patchwork flames, and floral embroidery. It’s said that the dress was made within two days, given that Gigi first chose the 2011 collection of Miu Miu and wanted the floral and flame embroidery specifically, as shared by her to Vogue. However, the patchworks were not sitting in her body, and thus she had to find archivers, and she finally selected the 1998 Spring collection.

Hailey Bieber is just a Greek goddess in her 24 Karat gold dress

Hailey Bieber never skips to leave us in awe with her fashion choices, and her look at the Met Gala 2026 was no exception. For the day, Hailey opted for a custom Saint Laurent dress, which was made of a sculpted bodice featuring 24-karat gold. A blue chiffon skirt was beneath, enhancing Hailey’s entire look. The dress was inspired by Saint Laurent’s fall 1969 couture collection. For this, Yves Saint Laurent collaborated with a French artist and sculptor, Claude Lalanne, and two bodices were made. The dress was finalised with a muslin, and it brought along a classy contrast, which remains as one of Saint Lauren’s artistic references.

Anne Hathaway’s hand-painted dress for the Met Gala 2026 was inspired by a poem

Anne Hathaway was one of the A-listers of the Met Gala 2026, and just like every time, she didn’t disappoint. For the day, she wore a classy hand-painted piece from Michael Kors Collection, and for the same American artist, Peter McGough, also collaborated. The Mikado ball gown in black hue featured a deep neckline and a high slit. Vogue recently revealed that the dress was inspired by a poem, which is John Keats’ Ode on a Grecian Urn. Well, Anne actually nailed the dress as well as the theme.

Doja Cat’s wet-look and Katy Perry’s AI-inspired look at the Met Gala 2026

Doja Cat looked simply gorgeous as she slipped into a classy piece from Saint Laurent. Appearing as a sleek wet look, her dress’s material was silicone. The tan fabric, in contrast with the design, including high slit and overworked neckline, was all things gorgeous. The shimmery effect did all the talking, and just like every time, Doja was shining through. Speaking of Katy Perry, she looked stunning in a Stella McCartney piece at the Met Gala 2026. Her white gown came along with a train, gloves and a mirrored mask, and it’s said to be inspired by artificial intelligence.
