Carrick defended Rashford’s performance after the match, saying he was a ‘threat’ and could have scored a couple of goals.
But despite what the manager publicly says, it would be a surprise if the 28-year-old retains his spot in the team when they face Tottenham Hotspur on October 10.
Rashford impressed during his loan spell at Barcelona, bagging 14 goals and 15 assists in 49 appearances.
But the forward has failed to replicate that form this season for United. He is yet to make a goal contribution in five Premier League matches.
