Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani won the 2026 ESPY award for best single-game performance.

Mike Tyson, Jake Paul and DJ Khaled presented the nominees. After announcing the winner, Paul revealed Ohtani wasn’t present to accept the award.

Tyson then asked a puzzling question as the trio left the stage: “Shohei’s a guy?”

The former professional boxer didn’t say it directly into the mic, but the sound was captured on video that quickly surfaced on social media.

Ohtani received the ESPY for his historic performance against the Brewers in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series in 2025. The two-way star’s dominance was on full display as he hit three home runs and tossed six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts.

Despite the confusion on Tyson’s part, there’s no question regarding Ohtani’s dominance in MLB.

Ohtani missed the 2026 All-Star Game earlier this week due to a knee injury and didn’t make his scheduled start last Friday before the Midsummer Classic.

Ohtani is expected to return for the Dodgers’ road series against the Yankees beginning Friday. Manager Dave Roberts revealed the two-way player had fluid drained from his knee to relieve irritation but will return to the Dodgers’ lineup to kick off the second half of the season.

The Dodgers have MLB’s best record (61-36) as the team chases a third consecutive World Series title this season. Ohtani is poised to lead LA on its quest to championship glory.

Hopefully, Tyson now knows who Ohtani is.
