Who Wants To Be A Millionaire welcomed another contestant to the jackpot winning club as Roman Dubowski bagged the top prize. And he has now revealed what he will spend the money on

Roman Dubowski has joined an elite club after he became the seventh person to land the jackpot on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. And now the retired IT analyst has revealed exactly what he plans to do with the winnings.

Roman, who admitted he was “aiming for £32,000” when he won a spot on the ITV show after trying three times previously, remained composed when he bagged the huge sum.

And while he has called it “life-changing” he revealed he doesn’t want it to be “personality-changing”. Speaking after his win, Roman said: “It removes financial stress completely, that’s what makes the biggest difference.”

When it comes to his plans – he is now looking forward to a happy retirement and moving home for the first time in over 30 years. He added: “I was already thinking about moving, and this gives me the opportunity to do that at the right time in my life,” he said.

“Just getting onto the show felt like a win,” he added. “If you’re thinking of applying, I’d say have a go. You never know what might happen.”

Roman became the second person in the Jeremy Clarkson-era of the show to take him the £1million. He did so in impressive fashion, going into the final question with two lifelines remaining.

He correctly – and calmly – told the host that Bass Ale was the trademarked logo used since 1876 that is described in the James Joyce novel ‘Ulysess’ and depicted in works by Manet and Picasso.

Thrilled for his win, Jeremy said: “That’s fantastic! It happened so quickly, I don’t even know what to say, and you did it without my help!”

When quizzed on how he felt, Roman told the host: “It doesn’t feel real at the moment. It hasn’t quite sunk in, it’s one of those slow-motion things that will probably sink in a little later today. But at the moment, I just take things one at a time.”

It was revealed prior to the show that Roman had been waiting months for the £1m life-changing money as the show was filmed a while ago and compliance rules and contractual requirements stipulate that TV winners cannot receive their cash until after their episode has been broadcast.

Fans were all in agreement following the show airing. “What a decent bloke, absolute TV gold £1,000,000,” one user on Twitter/X wrote. Another said: “I did not anticipate that, given how it started!”

Speaking of the series to date, host Jeremy called it his “favourite series so far”. Host said: “There are some properly nail-biting moments and seeing two contestants get to the £1 million question was extraordinary.

“When they’re sitting there on that final question, the tension in the studio is incredible, you can really feel it. I can’t wait for people to watch it.”
