Minister Durgesh Announces 780 New Pensions For Nidadavolu Town

KAKINADA: Tourism minister Kandula Durgesh announced that the state government would sanction new pensions to additional 780 eligible people in Nidadavolu town of East Godavari district as part of providing social security to the poor. The distribution of amounts to the new pensioners would commence from next month.

Durgesh made the announcement after visiting some homes in Nidadavolu personally and distributing pensions.

Some residents in Jandala Street brought to the attention of the minister the damaged CC road and overflow of drainage water onto the street, creating hardships for the people. Durgesh directed the municipal commissioner to solve the problem by next month.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister disclosed that 933 persons had applied for new pensions from Nidadavolu town, out of which 146 applicants had been ineligible due to lack of proper documentation.

Housing minister K. Partha Saradhi gave away pensions to the beneficiaries at Pallerlamudi village in Nuzvid mandal of Eluru district. He declared that Andhra Pradesh is in the forefront of distributing pensions in highest numbers in the country.

District collector K. Vetri Selvi said beneficiaries, who have failed in receiving their pensions, would be distributed their pensions on October 2.

Labour minister Vasamsetti Subhash presented pensions to beneficiaries at Velampalem village in Ramachandrapuram constituency of Dr. B.R. Konaseema district. He maintained that the welfare programmes being implemented by the NDA alliance government under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and Education minister Nara Lokesh have instilled a sense of security within the lives of people.

Water Resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu distributed the pensions in Palkole constituency. He pointed out that the alliance government is extending support to families of handloom weavers, providing 200 units for free power supply for handlooms and 500 units to powerlooms. He underlined that the previous YSRC government did not provide any assistance to the poor and weavers.

Rajya Sabha member Sana Satish said that the state government is distributing social security pensions to 61 lakhs beneficiaries, spending ₹2,500 crore every month, despite the financial crisis.

Satish, along with Kakinada MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao and MLCs Karri Padma Sri and Perabathula Rajasekhar distributed pensions in Kakinada.
