
CHENNAI: Public Works and Sports Development Minister Aadhav Arjuna on Tuesday inspected monsoon preparedness and development works in the Villivakkam Assembly constituency and directed officials to expedite them.
He distributed one-gram gold rings to five newborns at the Urban Community Health Centre in Ayanavaram under the ‘Thaimaman Thanga Modhiram’ scheme. Of the 6,790 babies born in Greater Chennai since June 22, 3,823 have so far received the gold rings.
The minister inspected the construction of an Urban Primary Health Centre and later visited the Otteri Nullah, where a 500-metre retaining wall is being raised as part of a ₹66.27-crore project covering 10.81 km of the canal. He directed officials to complete the work within 10 days.
He also inspected the TVS Canal in Agathiyar Nagar and ordered desilting and other works to ensure free flow of rainwater ahead of the northeast monsoon. He interacted with residents and received petitions on civic issues.
