Kurnool: Andhra Pradesh Industries and Commerce Minister TG Bharath on Wednesday filed a criminal defamation case against YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Byreddy Siddharth Reddy of Nandyal for making false allegations against him and his family.
Acting on the Minister’s complaint, the Kurnool Three Town Police registered a case against Byreddy under Section 356 of the BNS and other provisions.
The case follows remarks Byreddy Siddharth made during a protest at the Kurnool Collectorate recently, where he made serious allegations against the Minister of taking a Rs 45-crore bribe from a pharmaceutical company. Expressing strong outrage, Bharath lodged a police complaint, stating that Reddy had also insulted his family members. He said the comments were made deliberately to damage his public reputation and incite hatred.
The Minister clarified that Reddy’s allegations are completely false and baseless, and added that he intends to file a civil defamation suit as well.
