Hyderabad: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped multiple times by two men since last year, with her mother and her aunt being aware of the assaults and not reporting the matter to the police. The case came to light after the victim fell unconscious in her classroom and was rushed to a hospital, police said.

Upon being asked by doctors and teachers, the victim reportedly told them about her traumatic ordeal. They informed the police who booked a case and commenced investigations, a police officer said on Thursday. Police deployed Bharosa centre personnel to counsel and recorded her statement as per law, the officer said.

According to Tandur station house officer B. Parameshwar Goud, the victim’s mother following her husband’s death was staying with her aunt. Both worked at a private firm.

One Krishna developed a friendship with victim’s mother and the aunt. Over the months, he allegedly threatened and raped the victim several times, Parmeshwar Goud alleged. After the victim’s mother shifted to another village, another man, Amrutappa, allegedly assaulted the victim several times, the SHO said.

Police said the victim’s mother and her aunt were aware of the attacks on the victim but did not report the matter to the police. “We arrested them along with Krishna and Amrutappa, and produced them before a magistrate for judicial remand,” the SHO said and added that investigations were continuing.

The victim was undergoing treatment at a rehabilitation centre. “Our Sakhi and Bharosa teams are taking care of the victim,” he added.
