Vijayawada: A breakthrough has emerged in the case of a two-year-old girl, Gnaneshwari, who went missing from CH Agraharam in Dondavaka panchayat of Tuni mandal in Kakinada district, with the family’s pet dog becoming a crucial lead.

The dog, which had gone missing along with the child last Saturday, reappeared briefly near a garden area on Tuesday afternoon. However, it fled after noticing the presence of police personnel and the child’s family members gathered at the spot.
Police believe the dog could provide vital clues to trace the missing child. Though efforts to catch it initially failed, a group of youths from Uttar Pradesh managed to capture the animal.
Officials noted that the dog is currently behaving unusually, and efforts are underway to stabilise its condition. Police are considering fitting a GPS tracker on the dog and releasing it to trace its movements, hoping it may lead them to the child’s whereabouts, possibly in nearby hill or plantation areas.
