The mum of missing rugby union star Levi Davis has released a new video four years on from her son’s disappearance as a charity issued an appeal after Catalonia police closed the case

Levi Davis remains missing four years after he vanished. The rugby union star and X Factor Celebrity contestant mysteriously disappeared aged 24 on October 29, 2022.

Despite no sign of him, his mum Julie has not given up hope of seeing her son alive again. She shared a video on Missing People’s YouTube channel to talk about her son who “had the ability to light up a room when he walked in”.

Explaining his qualities, she said: “Levi would do anything to put a smile on people’s faces,” before describing some of her favourite moments with her son.

She went on: “The uncertainty is heartbreaking. There are times when the emotional weight feels overwhelming.”

Missing People charity, who is supporting Levi’s family said through a spokesperson: “Levi, if you are reading this, please get in touch.

“Our service is non-judgemental, confidential, and free. We just want to provide you with the support you need and help you to be safe.”

In 2024, police in Catalonia told the BBC that their investigation into his disappearance had “concluded”. They said their “most plausible hypothesis” was that Levi had drowned at sea.

His family previously called for UK police to lead the investigation. And they have vowed to continue in their search for answers.

Rugby star Levi, who played as a winger for Bath and appeared on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019 as part of the group Try Star with fellow players Thom Evans and Ben Foden, was last seen on CCTV leaving The Old Irish Pub on La Rambla in Barcelona at around 10pm.

Bar staff said at the time that he had only had one or two drinks. Levi had run out of money and was asking friends and family for £30 to get a hotel. The last known contact from him was after midnight, when he sent a WhatsApp to a friend.

Levi had gone travelling after a serious knee injury left him unable to play rugby. He had considered quitting the game for his other love, music.

He had been open about his bisexuality in the past and had also been the victim of a “sextortion” plot long before his disappearance. Two years after his disappearance Julie admitted to fears the two things may be connected. According to Julie, Levi was raped and the attack was filmed, which led to him posting a video saying his life was in danger.

Missing People have appealed for anyone with any potential information about Levi’s disappearance to contact their helpline by calling 116 000.
