Hyderabad:Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy cautioned cable operators and internet service providers of stringent action if the wires put up for their services endangered public safety. He was addressing cable operators and internet service providers to tackle unsafe and cluttered wiring. Krishna Reddy instructed the operators to remove all unused cables from poles, secure active lines and ensure that there were no loose or hanging wires and to clear leftover materials immediately. They were also direted to ensure area-wise monitoring by operators to ensure accountability.
Over 56,000 students get seats in DOST phase-I allotment
Hyderabad:More than 56,000 students secured undergraduate admissions in the first phase of Degree Online Services, Telangana (DOST) seat allotments for the 2026-27, with a majority getting seats in their top preferences.
DOST 2026 includes 777 colleges, 409 courses and a total intake of 3.6 lakh seats. Students allotted seats must complete online self-reporting between May 15 and May 23 to confirm admissions. Phase-II registrations and web options will continue till May 26, while the next seat allotment is scheduled for May 30.
Commerce courses recorded the highest number of allotments at 23,214, followed by Physical Sciences with 14,394 and Life Sciences with 9,815 seats. Female candidates accounted for 36,302 allotments, compared to 19,845 male candidates. English medium seats dominated admissions with 54,608 allotments.
According to Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) and Commissioner of Collegiate Education (CCE) officials, 56,147 candidates were allotted seats out of 61,543 students who exercised web options in Phase-I. Another 5,396 candidates could not secure allotments because of limited web options.
A total of 84,610 candidates registered for admissions through Aadhaar OTP, DOST app and MeeSeva biometric authentication systems. Among those allotted seats, 36,634 students secured their first preference, while 19,513 received allotments in second or later preferences.
