VIJAYAWADA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Andhra Pradesh government and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on organising the second edition of Vijayawada Utsav, saying the festival would boost tourism, create opportunities for entrepreneurs and strengthen the city’s cultural heritage.
In a message, Modi expressed happiness over the celebrations and extended his greetings to the people of Vijayawada and everyone associated with the initiative.
“Vijayawada holds a special place in Andhra Pradesh’s economic, cultural and spiritual life,” he said, highlighting the city’s rich heritage, shaped by the sacred Krishna river and the revered Kanaka Durga temple.
The Prime Minister said the festival would help preserve the city’s traditions and pass them on to the next generation while creating new opportunities for regional artists and entrepreneurs. He expressed confidence that the event would give a fresh impetus to tourism and welcomed its focus on skill development.
Modi noted that cities must preserve their distinct cultural identities even as India advances towards the vision of a developed nation. Initiatives such as Vijayawada Utsav were important in this regard, he said. He wished the festival success and expressed hope that it would strengthen the bond between Vijayawada’s people and their rich cultural heritage.
