Iranian state-linked media has released a brief, undated video purportedly showing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei in apparent good health, amid continuing uncertainty over his whereabouts and reports that he is in critical condition.
The 12-second video, released by Iran’s Mehr News Agency, shows Khamenei seated with advisers and officials and apparently discussing Iran’s strategy amid its ongoing conflict with the United States. “Watch a new video of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei for the first time,” Mehr said while publishing the footage.
The release comes amid reports in Israeli media claiming that the 56-year-old Iranian leader has been hospitalised and is in an “extremely critical condition”. The newspaper also said it “would not be surprised” if reports of his death emerged soon. However, there has been no independent confirmation of the claims about Mojtaba Khamenei’s health.
