Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury fans have been having their say after the boxer revealed the name of their second child on his jacket before fighting former world’s strongest man Eddie Hall.
The couple decided to name the child, a boy, Midas with Tommy saying after victory in the ring: “This is for my new baby boy son, Midas. It’s another Fury and it’s another boy.” He pulled on an England football shirt with the name MIDAS on the back.
Reaction to the name was broadly positive – despite Molly-Mae insisting before the announcement that everyone would hate it. One wrote: “I actually really like the name Molly Mae and Tommy have given their baby boy. Quite a cool name actually!”
King Midas is a character from Greek and Roman mythology who could turn everything he touched into pure gold. There does not appear to be any link to their three-year-old daughter’s name, Bambi.
One other wrote: “One thing you have to say about the Fury family is that they really know how to name their babies. Tyson. Venezuela. Roman. Bambi. Midas. A generational run.”
Another cheered: “Midas. I really like that, all children are a gift and I hope that the little fella lives up to his name.” A fourth wrote: “Midas Fury, very interesting not the worst they could’ve absolutely called him Thumper.” One other joked, talking about the price of the stream: “£15 for the name to be Midas I give up.”
One other fan said, referring to the album Midas by the British band Wunderhorse: “Not molly mae n tommy furys son being named after a wunderhorse song.” Another said the name could have been inspired by the Fortnite character.

In March Molly-Mae told fans that she and Tommy had chosen a name, saying: “I think we’re pretty much set on a name now, which is crazy.” She added: “I also just can’t wait for everyone to hate it.
“Obviously it’s a different name – we were never going to call our baby just an ordinary name, that was never going to happen. I’ve only ever heard of one other baby being called this name. I can’t wait for everyone to probably dislike it and be like, ‘What?’”
