Amaravati: The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into parts of Andhra Pradesh on June 6, bringing a mix of rainfall activity and weather alerts across the state.

According to the latest forecast, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next few days. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph) are likely across several districts between June 6 and 10.

Rayalaseema is expected to receive intermittent rainfall till June 11, with chances of isolated heavy showers in some areas. Coastal Andhra Pradesh will also witness scattered rainfall activity through June 12.

However, despite the monsoon progress, heat wave conditions are likely to persist in isolated pockets of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam between June 6 and 8. Residents are advised to take precautions against both extreme heat and sudden thunderstorms.

Across South India, heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast in states like Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu over the next week, indicating an active monsoon phase in the region.

Authorities have urged people to stay alert, especially in areas prone to waterlogging, lightning, and strong winds.
