A 17‑year‑old victim lodged a complaint with Uppal police stating that a man repeatedly sexually assaulted her on several occasions in the presence of her mother. The victim said the accused, a relative, had been assaulting her for the past eight months, police said. She alleged that her mother facilitated the assaults.
She, along with her sister and relatives, informed police that she was assaulted in the presence of her mother about eight months ago. She further stated in her complaint that she was assaulted several times during July, after which she was admitted to a private hospital and underwent treatment for eight days.
The matter came to light last week when she met her sister and narrated the incidents. Her family members then approached police and lodged a complaint. “We have recorded the victim’s complaint and registered a case under the POCSO Act against three persons, including the victim’s mother,” a police officer said on Monday.
Police said a special team comprising female constables has been formed. They are verifying evidence along with medical reports and the discharge summary from the private hospital where she was admitted.
