MP Stations: 30 Delhi-Bound Protesters Detained; HC Demands Production of 2 Women

Bhopal: At least 30 protesters, including women, travelling to Delhi in different trains ahead of October ten stir by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), were on Friday deboarded and detained at various railway stations in Madhya Pradesh.

They were being counselled to return to their home state, a senior police officer said.

In another development, the Madhya Pradesh high court took note of the habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of two female protesters and ordered the state to produce them on Monday or an earlier date.

According to the police, the protesters travelling in different trains to Delhi to join the CJP stir on October ten at Delhi, called to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and chief election commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, were deboarded and detained by the police at Bhopal, Itarsi and Gwalior railway stations and were being counselled to return to their native states.

They were travelling from the states of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Their detention comes in the wake of Delhi police denying permission to the CJP to hold a protest at the national capital.

In another development, the Madhya Pradesh high court took note of the habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of two female protesters, Shravani Buva and Preeti Prashant Lodhe, and ordered the state government to produce them in the court on Monday or an earlier date, official sources said.

Brahmadatt Singh, Additional Advocate General (AAG) of Madhya Pradesh government, alerted the director general of police (DGP), Narmadapuram district superintendent of police, station house officer of Itarsi and superintendent of police (railways), Bhopal, in an urgent communication regarding the development, and sought compliance of the court order, sources said.
