Now, we’ve spotted a pretty gingham pair that’s receiving high praise online from M&S shoppers thanks to its chic design and comfortable fit. The M&S Gingham High Waisted Shorts are already proving super popular online having sold out in sizes 22 and 24 in the black design, but they also come in brown with all sizes being in stock (aside from the 24) at the time of writing.
Fashion enthusiasts have awarded the shorts an impressive near-perfect review score of 4.9 out of five stars. Crafted in a pull-on boxer short style design, they feature a comfy elasticated waistband with a double button closure and an on-trend gingham print.

If M&S’ shorts don’t suit, then New Look is offering the £21.99 Gingham Frill Shorts which also come in brown or black and feature a pretty ruffle trim. Elsewhere, we’ve also spotted the Next Gingham Lightweight Shorts for £15 a pair, available in yellow or red and in regular or long lengths.
Back to the Marks & Spencer Gingham High Waisted Shorts, and another buyer enthused: “These shorts are such a good length, they are short but long enough to keep everything covered and good for running after kids.”
Meanwhile another said: “Lovely shorts. Perfect for the beach, hopefully won’t need ironed. Perfect fit.”
Despite mostly glowing reviews, one shopper deducted a star for the material, commenting: “I’m pleased with these shorts as they are a nice length on me and comfy round the waist. The fabric isn’t as soft as I’d have liked, but they will be fine for the summer. Nice to find some shorts in a brown colourway.”
However, another left high praise for the shorts, saying: “Don’t usually feel comfortable in shorts but thought I’d give these a go…so glad I did. Fashionable and extremely flattering, really comfortable shorts.
