Mumbai: A 18-month-old girl died after a 10-year-old girl threw her down the staircase from the sixth floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Goregaon area on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the incident took place at the Shivshahi building. CCTV footage shows the 10-year-old girl lifting the toddler and throwing her down the staircase from the sixth floor.
The toddler sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. The minor girl and her mother were taken into custody.
Preliminary reports suggest that a dispute between the two families over a cat may have led to the incident. However, the exact circumstances and motive are yet to be established.
