Myles Garrett is back for the Los Angeles Rams and doing Myles Garrett things.

The All-Pro pass rusher and two-time Defensive Player of the Year played just one game in his debut season with the Rams before landing on injured reserve. He was ineffective with no tackles in a Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and it turned out that he was playing hurt.

Garrett required arthroscopic surgery to address swelling and irritation in his left knee that had lingered through training camp. From the looks of things, the surgery and time off did him some good.

Garrett returned to the field on Sunday to face the Washington Commanders. It took him less than one half to create his first turnover with his new team.

With Washington at midfield and threatening to extend a 10-3 lead late in the second quarter, Garrett broke free around the right edge for a strip-sack of Jayden Daniels.

With Garrett and Aaron Donald lined up next to each other, right tackle Josh Conerly Jr. broke inside off the snap to double-team Donald. This left Garrett free to run into the backfield, where a chip-block did little to impede his progress.

Garrett was able to get to Daniels and knock the ball out of his right hand. The Rams recovered and were able to convert the turnover into a field goal to cut their deficit to 10-6 before halftime.

It added up to the exact type of play the Rams envisioned when they paired Donald and Garrett together, but haven’t seen up until Sunday. The presence of both on the field forced the Commanders into a mistake that left Garrett free to rush into the backfield, and Garrett made them pay.
