Vijayawada: Telugu Desam supremo and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said the state government is working on constituting a dedicated task force to curb defamatory online content, character assassination, and fake social media posts. In this regard, the TD Party chief warned that unchecked misuse of digital platforms could pose a serious threat to society, particularly to the safety and dignity of women.

Addressing media persons after receiving public petitions at Telugu Desam’s central office in Mangalagiri, Chandrababu Naidu expressed concern over the growing misuse of social media to launch personal attacks, blackmail, and spread false propaganda. He underlined that women are increasingly becoming targets of abusive online campaigns. He asserted that his government is committed to taking effective measures to curb such practices.

The CM charged that YSRC lacks the basic characteristics of a democratic political party. He maintained that YSRC’s style of functioning is harmful to the interests of Andhra Pradesh. Continuing to describe it as an “axe party,” he accused the opposition party of promoting violence, intimidation, and destructive politics.

Naidu reminded media that it has the responsibility of exposing what he termed the YSRC’s criminal mind-set.

He said several IAS officers, entrepreneurs, and industrialists had suffered during the previous YSRC regime. Even now, despite being in opposition, the YSRC leaders are continuing to threaten investors by warning that their industries would be driven out of the state.

According to the Chief Minister, YSRC fears that fresh investments and employment generation under the NDA coalition government would strengthen the government’s image.

Highlighting the ongoing development works in Andhra Pradesh, he reiterated that Bhogapuram International Airport is nearing its inauguration, while the Polavaram and Veligonda irrigation projects are also progressing towards completion. These achievements, he claimed, have created unease within the YSRC.

Naidu further alleged that the previous government had imposed Section 22-A restrictions on farmers’ lands as part of a conspiracy to seize valuable properties. Because of this, many landowners had been unable to obtain crop loans and even purchase fertilisers. The present government, he said, is resolving these issues.

Referring to the land allotted to Brahmani Steel, the CM alleged that the greed of a single individual has led to the loss of mineral wealth worth lakhs of crores through illegal mining carried out in the name of establishing the Kadapa steel plant. While the government had reclaimed the allotted land, he said the Obulapuram mining issue has remained unresolved.

Naidu accused former chief minister and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of following a “hit, run, and escape” strategy by creating disturbances in Andhra Pradesh and then moving to Bengaluru, while continuing to target the government and TD leaders through false propaganda, including on social media.
