State home minister Vangalapudi Anitha said the Nakkapalli Government Hospital would soon be upgraded from a 30-bed to a 100-bed facility, with trauma care and other facilities to provide better healthcare services.
Earlier, she inspected various wards at the hospital and interacted with patients about their health and the medical facilities being provided. She also visited the children’s ward and distributed baby kits to newborns.
Later, Anitha inaugurated a Talli-Bidda Express (Mother and Child Express) vehicle at the hospital. She travelled in the vehicle with a postpartum woman from Nakkapalli Government Hospital via Addaroad to Konavanipalem to demonstrate its utility.
The minister accompanied Lakshmi Durga and her baby and dropped them at their home in Konavanipalem.
Anitha said the Mother and Child Express vehicles would help women and newborns avoid difficulties before and after delivery by ensuring safe transportation between hospitals and their homes.
