The industry woke up to heartbreaking news of veteran actor Nana Patekar passing away at 75!
The actor suffered a massive cardiac arrest at his plush residence in Dona Paula, Goa on Thursday morning. He was found unconscious and rushed to Manipal Hospital, where the scenario unfolded for the next 45 minutes.
Doctors gave it all like continuous CPR, cardiac massage but couldn’t save him. He was declared dead at 5:20 am sharp. His son Malhar Patekar, who was in Pune, got the dreaded call and rushed to Goa.
Maharashtra is mourning, Bollywood is numb. Politicians from Devendra Fadnavis to Nitin Gadkari are paying tributes. He will now be honoured with a state funeral. In what now feels like an eerie premonition, Nana Patekar had also spoken about life’s uncertainty just three days before his death.
At an event on Oct 4, recalling late friend Manohar Parrikar, he said: “We all have to go someday. I don’t know whether I will be here tomorrow. Before that time comes, we have to think — am I able to do what I want to do?”
Highlight: Beyond acting, Nana was a marksman too! The 3-time National Award winner was a professional rifle shooter who competed for decades at state and national championships, earning the official title of ‘renowned shot’.
