Nana Patekar’s sudden death has shocked everyone. The actor was 75 years old when he took his last breath. While reports had been rife that Nana had suffered a cardiac arrest, his doctor has now revealed what exactly happened.

Nana Patekar’s doctor reveals the actor was ‘brought dead’

In a conversation with PTI (Press Trust of India), the doctor who treated Nana Patekar at Goa’s Manipal Hospital has revealed what happened in the early hours of October 8, 2026. According to Dr Shekhar Salkar, the actor was declared dead at 5:20 AM after he couldn’t be revived despite their best efforts. For the unversed, Nana led a healthy lifestyle and was often seen working out at the gym.

Dr Salkar said Nana Patekar’s caretaker arrived at the hospital around 4:18 AM and took an ambulance to his flat. However, by the time the paramedics reached the residence, he was already on the ground, almost unresponsive. After analysing the situation, the medics began CPR, and the actor was brought to Manipal Hospital in 10 minutes. He was quoted as saying:

“Our favourite actor Nana Patekar was brought dead to our hospital and was declared dead at 5:20 am today. His caretaker arrived at around 4:18-20 am, took our ambulance and went to his flat, which is nearby. By the time our team reached there, he was already on the ground, unconscious and almost unresponsive. They started CPR and shifted him to the hospital while continuing CPR.”

Nana Patekar’s dead body has been shifted to Goa Medical College for post-mortem

In the same conversation, Dr Shekhar Salkar revealed that once he arrived at the hospital, they continued CPR. However, they couldn’t revive him. The doctor shared that they had to register his death as a medico-legal case. For the unversed, according to the Indian Institute of Legal Studies, a medico-legal case (MLC) is any medical or clinical case of injury, illness, or death where the attending doctor determines that an investigation by law enforcement agencies is required to establish responsibility or causation.

Dr Shekhar Salkar further shared that Nana Patekar’s body was shifted to Goa Medical College for post-mortem. The doctor revealed that Nana was a cardiac patient and was on medication for the same. However, what exactly triggered the arrest is unknown and will only be revealed after the autopsy is completed. He was quoted as saying:

“He was brought here in about 10 minutes, and we continued CPR here as well. But it was like he was brought dead. So we had to register a medico-legal case, and the body has now been shifted to Goa Medical College for post-mortem. It was a cardiac arrest, but we do not know the cause. He was a known cardiac patient and was on medication, as far as we have been told.”
